My Night Time Skin Care Routine

As a model, I cannot stress enough the importance of a good skin care routine! Having smooth, clear, and bright skin is a must for all models. Obviously it is nice to have good skin in general, but having clear skin as a model will help you book more jobs, which is always nice ;) I have dry skin with the occasional break out, so I like to use products that will hydrate and brighten. Here are a few of the products in my simple skin care routine.

To start cleansing my skin, I take Bioderma Sensible H2O Micellaire Cleansing Water on a cotton pad. This stuff seriously takes of everything... makeup, oil, and just the general dirt from the day. I use about 2 cotton pads for my eyes, and 1 all over my face. It is so effective, but so gentle on my sensitive skin. Ive tried a few different micellaire waters, but Bioderma is simply the best.

After I've given my skin an initial cleanse with the Bioderma micellaire water, I'll take another product to really give my skin a deep cleanse. For this I like to use Origins Checks and Balances Frothy face wash. You only need a pea size amount, and it will make your skin feel squeaky clean (in a good way). It cleanses your skin without it feeling tight or stripping it of all the good oils you need. This is an absolute must for me after having a ton of foundation at a shoot all day. And a Bonus, you need very little so this will last you a seriously long time!

The next step in my skin care is relatively new, and I can't believe I've just started doing this regularly. In the past, I would use exfoliating cleansers. I thought, sweet - a 2 in 1. But for my sensitive skin, this was not the best idea. Because I have dry skin, I need to exfoliate a couple of times a week for it to look bright and smooth. I shopped around a bit, but decided to go for the Origins Modern Friction Natures gentle dermabrasion. It's at a little on the pricier side at $49 dollars, but man is it good! I like to use it with a little bit of water, to make it softer on my sensitive skin. It leaves my face feeling so smooth and more importantly, the rest of my skin care is more effective because it can sink in easily. This product is a must for all my dry skin gals!

Serums are my favourite part of skin care. I find they really make the biggest difference to my skin. I will use a couple of different serums throughout the week, depending on what I feel my skin needs that night. Sometime's it needs to be hydrated, and sometimes it just looks a little dull. However, most of the week I use the EstÄ“e Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum. For me, this is exactly what it says. A general repair serum. When I wake up after using this, my skin feels smoother, my pores look smaller, and my spots are reduced. Although its on the pricier side, it is a must have for me. If you are going to invest in any part of your skin care, I would recommend doing so with a serum or sleeping oil.

The last step in my skin care routine is moisturizing. Firstly, I don't think you have to spend a ridiculous amount of money on your moisturizer. There are so good great moisturizers at the drug store. The one I have been using for almost a year now is the Simple Replenishing rich moisturizer. Don't be fooled! This is very hydrating, but it's actually quite a thin consistency. It sinks into the skin nicely and doesn't leave you looking like a grease ball. Sometimes I use this during the day as well.
